The folks at Mouser Electronics say that they are now stocking Cypress Semiconductor's Universal PSoC CapSense Controller Kit, which is designed for easy development and debugging of any CapSense design.
Cypress is a leading supplier of high-performance, mixed-signal, programmable solutions. This development kit includes pre-defined control circuitry and plug-in hardware, as well as controller boards for the CY8C20x34 and CY8C21x34 Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC) devices. The kit also offers a breadboard module and a module for implementing up to five buttons and a slider with sample overlays to encompass a wide variety of designs.
The kit works with both PSoC Designer and PSoC Express, allows for monitoring and tuning of CapSense designs via an I2C-to-USB bridge included in the kit, and supports the CapSense Successive Approximation (CSA) and Sigma-Delta (CSD) capacitive sensing method. CSA offers outstanding interference immunity and low-power consumption, making it suitable for portable consumer applications. Ideal for moisture-sensitive systems, CSD delivers superb temperature response and flawless operation in wet conditions.
A single CapSense device can replace dozens of mechanical switches and controls with an elegant touch-sensitive interface. The solution supports touch screens and proximity sensing for superior product differentiation. PSoC devices employ a highly configurable system-on-chip architecture for embedded control design, offering a Flash-based equivalent of a field programmable ASIC without lead-time or NRE penalties.
