SAN JOSE, Calif. Continuing to streamline its product portfolio, Canada's Gennum Corp. said that it is considering various strategic alternatives for its VXP Image Processing Group.
The group includes video processing algorithm intellectual property (IP) and semiconductor products for the broadcast and consumer video processing markets.
As part of this effort, Gennum has been working closely with Genuity Capital Markets. That firm is assisting in its review and consideration of strategic alternatives.
Today's announcement is part of the company's ongoing strategy to refine its focus on high-performance mixed signal and analog technologies and products for the video transport and data communications markets.
Earlier this month, Gennum announced CellPoint Connect AB had purchased the company's consumer headset product line, further streamlining its current product portfolio.
The company also announced that it has realigned its leadership and product divisions. Specifically, Gennum has created an Analog and Mixed Signal Division, which will be managed by Martin Rofheart, its senior vice president and general manager.
Gennum's optical products for both video and data communications will now be incorporated into a single Optical Products Division, which will be run by Gary Beauchamp, senior vice president and general manager.
The VXP Group will be led by industry-veteran David Lynch as its senior vice president.
